what are the root causes of child abuse?

To find some answers to this question i searched Wikipedia.com. There I found a section listed as Causes Of Child Abuse. There I found some of the same causes that i have found on other sites. I did find some new causes such as parental choices and other unforeseen circumstances that place families under extraordinary stress such as divorce sickness poverty or disability can cause child maltreatment. Many of these factors may contribute to family stress that can result in child abuse or neglect ("causes of child abuse." . )
Next I looked at http://www.quebecoislibre.org/000610-9.htm because there was an artcle called "the causes of crime". In that article I found child abuse listed in the crimes. One of the causes listed are most crimes come from fatherless families. In 1983, the US Department of Health and Human Services found that 60% of child abuse is done by mothers with sole custody of their children.
After going to that site, I found a wb site that was called "The Child's Voice: A Primer On Child Abuse". There I found several different causes of child abuse. Some of the causes listed are frustration, financial peril, parental inexperience, dificult behavior and uneffective punishment. I learned that frustration is the number 1 cause for abuse in infants under 5 months. In the finacial peril section, it was said that homes stricken with poverty have the highest rate of child abuse because of parents having a greater tendencey to badly interact with their child due to their own frustration. Parental inexperience is often found in teenage parents, who are often unmarried and are still children themselves. They may feel frustrated and stressed over the dramatic change in their life. I also learned that children who have difficult behavior are more likely to get abused because there is a high chance of the parent(s) being high tempered.
